Nun Wood wind farm proposal refused permission

Monday, 06 January 2014 14:43

After a prolonged battle lasting several years, CPRE has at last prevailed upon the Planning Inspectorate to refuse permission for the installation of a windfarm consisting of twelve turbines, each 125 metres high, in the iconic landscape above Harrold and the River Great Ouse.

The Inspector’s primary reason for refusal was the unacceptable cumulative impact that would be created by the existence of the operating Milton Keynes windfarm to the west of the proposed Nun Wood site and the consented windfarm at Podington to the east.

This adverse cumulative impact formed a major part of the evidence CPRE presented to the Inspector.

CPRE is one of a number of parties opposed to the wind farm, including local campaign group ‘BLOT’ (Bozeat Lavendon Oppose Turbines), and we congratulate them on their efforts and this success.

The appellant Npower can, if it so wishes, seek a judicial review in the high court in an attempt to overturn this decision.
