Barton-le-Clay solar farm

CPRE has added its voice to local residents in Barton-le-Clay and Pulloxhill objecting to an industrial scale solar farm in valued South Bedfordshire countryside.

The solar farm application in the parish of Pulloxhill would see 34,000 solar panels in a piece of countryside that adjoins the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is bounded by footpaths including the John Bunyan Way.

As well as adversely affecting this distinctive landscape's character, we are concerned that the solar farm will be located on good quality agricultural land. It is estimated that there are 250,000 hectares of south-facing commercial rooftops in the UK, and we'd rather see solar panels being located on the county's large industrial buildings than in our valuable greenspaces and agricultural land resource.
